L'chaim is a Hebrew word used to toast 'to health and happiness...
This poem is an ode to different shades of life, the happy and the sad. Each one of us has experienced similar times differently...
I have always felt an innate inkling to relate the abused with the abusers, at the blood and bone level. Life on this planet is unique on a micro level, yet these differences set us apart.
Our expressions give away to the discerning. For we are to survive we continue unto the unknown beauty of life, celebrating the hurdles... L'chaim.
L'chaim - To Surviving Life.
They say I look different now...
I can still hear your whistle though,
As I walked down the street, it was past eight...
You rode past me, howling 'What an ass'!!
I wanted to scream back, 'I have the boobs to match!!
I was a little girl in 3rd grade...
With a lean figure, With all the signs hidden...
Boy or a girl, you had to degrade!!
You still managed to appreciate my boob and ass...
I wanted to banish you,
But I was different then...
Well, they all did uproar #metoo...
I as well wanted to scream...
But then well I remembered...
How you mouthed, 'wow'.
How your hand grazed past me...
Well, I have changed, my looks have too...
But I am sure so have you...
And so have those who said #metoo...
But our insides are still the same...
Our eyes still give away too much...
Our smiles still don't give away much...
